1 Plus 1 Makes One

1 guy there all alone, 1 girl he didn’t know.

Call it chance, a glancing look, a little nerve was all it took.

A spark was lit, a flame would grow. I’ve heard it said, when you know, you know.

Conventional truth might be that 1 plus 1 is 2.

It used to be just me alone, but then along came you.

Once I said I love you, normal math came all undone.

When it’s me and you … 1 plus 1 … makes one…

It’s like I always knew you, the things we like to do.

Hand in hand adventuring, a dream that has come true.

We love to cook, climb, camp and skate … hiking in the Hana rain.

A day I’ll be forever remembering.

Conventional truth might be that 1 plus 1 is 2.

It used to be just me alone, and then along came you.

Once I said I love you, normal math came all undone.

When it’s me and you … 1 plus 1 … makes one…

One life, one goal, one bond, one soul.

Our future has begun, Two hearts entwined as one.

Conventional truth might be that 1 plus 1 is 2.

It used to be just me alone, and then along came you.

Once I said I love you, normal math came all undone.

When it’s me and you … 1 plus 1 … makes one…

Eventually makes … 3!

Back When Old School Was New

I’ve been listenin’ to radio

Since I was a kid

And I still don’t understand

Why they had to get rid

Of those old story songs

Cause take it from me,

We need more of that

In today’s country.

When outlaws were outlaws

That sang bout the south cause

It was three chords and the truth.

With a fiddle and steel;

That sound made you feel

Like they were talkin’ bout you…

Back when the old school was new.

I used to hear my heroes

Sing the workin' man’s blues.

Mr. Jones, we don’t know

Who’s gonna fill their shoes.

When Patsy went “Crazy.”

And Johnny Walked the Line,

Merle’s Mama Tried,

Wish I could hit rewind…  to

When outlaws were outlaws

That sang bout the south cause

It was three chords and the truth.

With a fiddle and steel;

That sound made you feel

Like they were talkin’ bout you…

Back when the old school was new.

I don’t mind the new stuff.

It’s a different day and age.

But I still wish I could go back in time

And catch my old favorites on stage…

When outlaws were outlaws

That sang bout the south cause

It was three chords and the truth.

With a fiddle and steel;

That sound made you feel

Like they were talkin’ bout you…

Back when the old school was new.

Bachelor Party

Come join us at the bachelor party for my good buddy Steve.

Everyone is here, man, you’ll never wanna leave.

The Captain is all suited up;  hanging with his Pop.

Best keep an eye on Jack ‘cause he don’t know when to stop.

It’s a bachelor party.

All the boys are goin’ wild.

A bachelor party; gonna send him out in style.

Take another big swig, and then just swallow.

We’ll be feelin’ really good…until tomorrow.

That’s the way it goes. Yeah, every one knows it. At the bachelor party.

We met a couple Russians, they were flyin’ through the Skyy.

Cousin’s Bud and Mick, aww they’re just sitting by the ice.

I know that Maker’s Mark is gonna show up tonight.

And yeah, that loco Jose, is (now) a friend of mine.

Jameson said the party was really nice

‘Til a couple Wild Turkeys started up a fight.

It was a wild scene when Bailey got creamed…for goosing that chick named Tia Maria.

It’s a bachelor party.

All the boys are goin’ wild.

A bachelor party, gonna send him out in style.

Take another big swig, and then just swallow.

We’ll be feelin’ really good…until tomorrow.

That’s the way it goes. Yeah, every one knows it. At the bachelor party.

Yeah, anything goes as long as she don’t know it.

At the Bachelor party.

Big Soft Chair

Daddy first saw it in the store.

Front window of the showroom floor.

For newlyweds times were tough.

Paying for it would be rough.

But he couldn’t get it off of his mind.

It rocked, it swiveled and it reclined.

They saved up for half a year,

And finally bought that big soft chair.

Oh, that big soft chair…it’s where he rests his bones.

After working hard all day…it lets him know that he’s home.

It’s where he’d take his nap…‘til us kids found him there…

and pile up on his lap…in that big soft chair.

Well, it’s really held up fine.

It’s been repaired a couple of times.

Us kids are grown and gone.

But, that chair just keeps hanging on.

It’s great when we come back home…

‘cause now the grandkids won’t leave it alone.

Oh, Dad sure loves to share…

his stories in that big soft chair.

Oh, that big soft chair…it’s where he rests his bones.

After working hard all day…it lets him know that he’s home.

He’ll fall asleep at night…or sometimes think and stare.

Says life sure feels right…in that big soft chair.

Well he hasn’t got a lot, but he never needed much.

Just a warm smile and a woman’s touch.

A house full of love; a family that’s close…

are the things he treasures most.

Oh, that big soft chair…it’s where he rests his bones.

After working hard all day…it lets him know that he’s home.

He’ll fall asleep at night…or sometimes think and stare.

Says life sure feels right…

life just feels right…………..in that big soft chair…in that big soft chair.

Call

I’m lying here in bed.

My eyes are open wide.

Looking out the window.

As lightning lights the sky.

Waiting for a call I fear might not ever come.

My aching heart is beating but the rest of me is numb.

And I’m waiting … waiting for your call.

We met, we laughed, we danced, we kissed.

I loved how we could talk.

I gave you my number; now what’s taking you so long?

We both said we felt like soul mates.

Now, I’d sure give…a shiny penny for your thoughts.

My phone is on the pillow.

Is something wrong with yours?

Hope you didn’t lose my number.

Could I just be cursed?

I’m kind of in a panic, I don’t like the way this feels.

‘Cause everything we said, I know was just so real

And I’m waiting … waiting for your call.

We met, we laughed, we danced, we kissed.

The ball is in your court.

I gave you my number; now what’s taking you so long?

We both felt something special.

Yeah, I’d sure give…a shiny penny for your thoughts.

I went back to where we met, that faded old wood park bench.

My phone starts to ring,,  I hear your voice … and I say…

I’ve been waiting … waiting for your call.

We met, we laughed, we danced, we kissed.

I knew we both could fall.

I gave you my number; so what’s taken you so long?

We felt like we were meant to be.

Yeah, I, I’d give, a shiny penny for your thoughts.

Yeah, I’ve been waiting for your call.

Yeah, I’ve been waiting for your call.

I’d give a penny for your thoughts.

CITY GIRL

She’s got a tear in her shirt and mud on her jeans.

She’s done got her truck stuck down by the creek.

Sweatin’ off her make-up, and her hair’s all a mess.

Actin’ like a hick, but you’d never guess…

That she’s a city girl, with an MBA.

Lives in a high-rise, off the interstate.

Workin’ big dollar deals all week (day) long.

But, when the weekend comes she gets her redneck on.

She likes cold brew, barbeque and just kickin’ back.

Rockin’ cowboy boots and a baseball cap.

Where she works and where she plays are (in) two different worlds.

She’s a hell raising, honky tonkin’ city girl.

Six AM Monday in her business suit.

She’s flaggin’ down a cab for her daily commute.

The phones start ringing soon as she walks in.

Another day at the office, let the chaos (madness) begin.

Yeah, she’s a city girl, with an MBA.

No matter how you see her, one way or the other…

just goes to show you can’t judge a book by its cover.

Yeah, she’s a city girl, with an MBA.

Cubbies

I wake up every day; Spring, Summer, Fall.

And spend all day looking forward to some baseball.

My TV is always tuned, to W. G. N.

And I look forward to rooting on the Cubbies to a win...

So, let the games begin!,

‘Cause I love those Cubs ... Chicago Cubs.

No other team around is like our Cubs.

Yeah, I love those Cubs ... My Chicago Cubs.

You know there's just no other team around, that's like our Cubs.

In almost every town in every state,

People wait all day to watch the ball game.

They always find the station; we know as channel nine,

and listen for that crowd to cheer as those home runs start to fly.

Yeah, they'll be fans until they die.

‘Cause they love those Cubs ... Chicago Cubs.

No other team around is like our Cubs.

And, I love those Cubs ... My Chicago Cubs.

You know there's just no other team around that's like our Cubs.

Forget about the curse, that goat died long ago...

So, let's all start cheering...Go, Cubs, Go!

‘Cause I love those Cubs ... Chicago Cubs.

No other team around is like our Cubs.

Yeah, I love those Cubs ... My Chicago Cubs.

You know there's just no other team around that's like our Cubs.

Drinking About You

A trail of beer caps from the kitchen…

leads to the bottles thrown on the floor.

The whiskey there on my night stand.

Helps me face another morning.

I need to shave and get dressed.

My bloodshot eyes make it hard to see.

This house is such a mess.

But, it’s looking great compared to me…

I’ve been drinking about you all night.

Been thinking about what I can do to make everything alright.

I’m sinking lower and lower, wondering why we had that fight.

Oh, I need to tell you I love you…and I miss holding you tight…

Yeah, I’ve been drinking about you …  all night.

Messing things up with you

Is the biggest mistake I’ve made.

It feels like you’re gone a month.

But, it’s only been a few days.

I can’t keep going on like this.

No more sleeping ‘til the afternoon.

Do I even have a chance in hell

Of ever getting back with you?

I’ve been drinking about you all night.

Been thinking about what I can do to make everything alright.

I’m sinking lower and lower, wondering why we had that fight.

Yeah, I need to tell you I love you…and I miss holding you tight…

I’ve been drinking about you …  all night.

Well I sure was glad to saw that cab drop you off there on my street.

I opened the door and I was floored when you said to me…

I’ve been drinking about you all night.

Been thinking about what I could do to make everything alright.

I’m sinking lower and lower, wondering why we had that fight.

Babe, I’m here to tell you I love you…and I miss holding you tight…

I’ve been drinking about you … all night.

Yeah, I’m here to tell you I love you…and I miss holding you tight…

I’ve been drinking about you …  all night.

Yeah, I’ve been drinking about you …  all night

Everybody’s Rushing to Go Nowhere

Fragile

If I gave you my heart, could you (always) keep it safe?

How would it feel, would you guard it with your life or let it break?

If I gave you my trust, would you ever let me down?

Could I rely on you to keep your word, (even) when I’m not around?

‘Cause this heart’s fragile, it’s been broken,

Lost some battles, I’ve lost hope and it’s so hard....to let my guard down again.

So, if you’re looking for another

Naive temporary lover, save your breath ‘cause I don’t need the consequence.

So, I’m just wondering.

If I gave you my time would every single minute count?

Would you kiss my face the same way 25 years from now?

If I gave you my love, would it ever be enough?

Would it make you feel whole or would you go looking for another’s touch?

‘Cause this heart’s fragile, it’s been broken,

Lost some battles, I’ve lost hope and it’s so hard....to let my guard down again.

So, if you’re looking for another

Naive temporary lover, save your breath ‘cause I don’t need the consequence.

So, I’m just wondering.

Anyone can have a house, move in and move out,

And, just rehearse the same old lines and empty words.

But I’m looking for something more, than borrowed bricks and boards.

I know what I want.

‘Cause this heart’s fragile, it’s been broken,

Lost some battles, I’ve lost hope and it’s so hard....to let my guard down again.

So, if you’re looking for another

Naive temporary lover, save your breath ‘cause I don’t need the consequence.

So, before I take this chance; I’m just wondering.

If I gave you my heart.  If I gave you my trust.

Oh, if I gave you my time.  If I gave you my love.

Friends to the End

It started back in high school…

at the Dean’s our freshman year.

We both thought we were so damn cool…

‘til we got caught with all that beer.

We hung out a lot back then,

and have to this day still.

Through all these years you’ve had my back,

and I know you always will.

A truer friend just can’t be found.

A better bud, there’s none around.

You’ll always be my friend, my friend.

You’ll be my friend to the end.

Our trip down to Mexico,

I think I was twenty two.

Let’s just say, we did some things that today...

we would never do

We’ve had our days of being

footloose and fancy free.

But, some stories are better off…

kept under lock and key.

A truer friend just can’t be found.

A better bud, there’s none around.

You’ll always be my friend, my friend.

You’ll be my friend to the end.

I hope when all is said and done

that I was just as good of one,

and our kids had a chance to see

how good of friends two pals can be…

‘cause…

You’ll always be my friend, my friend.

You’ll be my friend to the end.

A better bud, there’s none around.

A truer friend just can’t be found.

You’ll always be my friend, my friend.

You’ll be my friend to the end.

And we ain’t never gonna talk about Vegas.

GIT-R-DONE GIRL

I work a hundred hours…almost every week.

The grass is green, my clothes are clean, the garage is always neat.

On Sunday I’m relaxing … in my hammock in the sun.

Let me tell you all a secret of how it all gets done.

I’ve got a clean the house, do it now, spic and span, love her man,

twenty-four seven, do it all over again girl.

A non-stop, ‘round the clock, strike while the iron’s hot, give’s it everything she’s got, Git-R-Done girl.

There’s a line I always hear her say…don’t put off ‘til tomorrow, what you can do today. She’s my Heaven made, hot dang, honey with a southern twang … Git-R-Done girl.

She walks the kids to school…and never once complains.

Then works out in the garden…and fixes up the place.

But, she cleans up real nice … in her skin tight fancy jeans.

I take her out to her favorite spots and treat her like a Queen.

Don’t know what I’d do without her.

All day I always think about her.

And every night I go to sleep with a big smile on my face.

I’ve got a clean the house, do it now, spic and span, love her man,

twenty-four seven, do it all over again, girl.

Every man should git-r-done, and get himself a fun little, hot for some lov’in, always wants some huggin’, crazy ‘bout her man, can’t wait til I get home again…Git-R-Done girl.

Glad I’m Me

We’re eatin’ crab cakes on the deck,

while that big ‘ol sun is sinking.

Gonna sit around the fire tonight, just drinking.

We’ll be laughing, singing, our wine glasses clinking.

As I’m lookin’ at the beach, I just can’t keep from thinking.

Man, I’m so glad I’m me.

Caught our reflection in the window…

and I’m liking what I see.

Right now there’s no one else I’d rather be.

Because, I’m down here on vacation…

and I’ve got you with me…yeah, I’m so glad  I’m me.

As you relax into my arms,

There’s not a single thing more thrilling,

than, for us to get away and spend a week or two just chilling.

It’s gonna be a good night if I can keep my wine from spilling.

And baby I’m sure ready, if you say that you are willing.

Man, I’m so glad I’m me.

You’re giving me that look now…

and I’m liking what I see.

Right now there’s no one else I’d rather be.

Because, I’m down here on vacation…

and I’ve got you with me…yeah, I’m so glad  I’m me.

From the hot sun on that beach all day.

To this full moon here tonight.

Nothing in my life has ever felt so right. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Man, I’m so glad I’m me.

I see your body in the mirror…

and I’m liking what I see.

Right now there’s no one else I’d rather be.

Because, I’m down here on vacation…

and I’ve got you with me…yeah, I’m so glad  I’m me.

So glad I’m me. Yeah, yeah, yeaaaah ah-ho.

Honky-Tonk Withdrawal

When she first slid that bottle down the bar into my hand.

She shot me a look, and I was hooked, that Friday (when) it (all) began.

We talked about it all from the weather to religion to her messed up Brother Doug.

And at the end of the night was she workin’ or flirtin’ when she gave me a goodbye hug.

And all week long I’m thinking ‘bout that girl at that honky-tonk on the strip.

I start shaking, my heart starts racing and I’m needing me another fix.

Ever since I met her, the booze tastes better, can’t think of nothing else at all.

Could it be I’m going through … Honky-Tonk withdrawal?

I walk faster now when I go back, as I near that bar room door.

When she smiles at me, I swear that I’m addicted to her more.

She’s got a hold on me that’s a hittin’ me stronger when the weekend’s coming around.

Is it infatuation or the good libations, that I can’t do without?

‘Cause all week long I’m thinking ‘bout that girl at that honky-tonk on the strip.

I start shaking, my heart starts racing and I’m needing me another fix.

Ever since I met her, the booze tastes better, can’t think of nothing else at all.

Could it be I’m going through … Honky-Tonk withdrawal?

Monday, Tuesday, I’m ok.  By Wednesday I can’t wait.

On Thursday I say, bring on Friday, she’s a habit I can’t break.

Yeah, all week long I been thinking ‘bout that girl at that honky-tonk on the strip.

I start shaking, my heart starts racing and I’m needin’ me another fix.

From that night I met her, the booze tastes better, can’t think of nothing else at all.

Could it be I’m going through … Honky-tonk,  Honky-Tonk withdrawal?

How Do You Deal With That?

I walked in from work last Thursday, when

my wife handed me the phone.

My buddy there on the other end

wanted me to be the first to know.

His wonderful wife of some twenty years

just told him that she’s through.

I could hear his words between the tears, say

“now what am I supposed to do?”

How do you deal with that?

Yeah, how do you deal with that?

When your perfect little world is going just fine

and things are right on track.

Life comes along and changes your plans.

Yeah, how do you deal with that?

He was number one in sales last year,

now my brother’s out looking for work.

He finally goes out on an interview,.

while his house gets robbed by some jerk.

It was just a cough, the doctor thought…

when I took my Mom in last May.

She battled so hard; she really fought.

Now, there’s nothing to do but just pray.

How do you deal with that?

Yeah, how do you deal with that?

When your perfect little world is going just fine

and things are right on track.

Life comes along and changes your plans.

Yeah, how do you deal with that?

You know things are always changing.  Never know what’s around the bend.

You must be strong ‘cause life goes on.  It takes time for us to mend.

How do you deal with that?

Yeah, how do you deal with that?

When your perfect little world is going just fine

and things are right on track.

Life comes along, tries kicking your ass.

Yeah, how do you deal with that?

Then life comes along, tries kicking your ass.

Yeah, how do you deal with that?

How Do You Picture Me?

I Can Feel You Breathing

As I put my arms around your waist and hold you,

with a feeling that I’ve never felt before.

I know that I’ve never told you,

every time I’m with you, I only want you more.

As I gently hold your face in my two hands,

I kiss you like no one has kissed in years.

I know we’re headed (out) into uncharted lands,

forgetting all our cares and all our fears.

You’re holding me so tight I can feel you breathing.

As I’m holding you tonight my chest is heaving.

Oh, what a feeling.

I can feel you breathing. I can feel you breathing.

With a wild passion burning in our souls,

I touch you and hear you softly sigh.

You whisper, let’s make this last forever.

Forever is all that’s on my mind.

You’re holding me so tight I can feel you breathing.

As I’m loving you tonight my chest is heaving.

Oh, what a feeling…

I finally start to catch my breath, and then…

I kiss your neck, and we’re right back in heaven.

You’re holding me so tight I can feel you breathing.

As I’m loving you once more my chest is heaving.

You’re holding me so tight I can feel you breathing.

As I’m loving you once more my chest is heaving.

Oh, what a feeling.

I can feel you breathing. I can feel you breathing.

I can feel you breathing.

I Didn’t Win

So many days we’d hang down by the river.

Skipping stones, trading jokes, lay on a blanket and get real close.

Making out on that swing on your front porch …

Singing songs, getting along,

Watchin’ day turn to night when that big ol’ sun dropped out of sight.

Time got away … And so did you; You rolled the dice on someone new.

And, I didn’t win.

You couldn’t see the forest for the trees, it was me that you really need. I didn’t win.

He played the part, drew every card, that won your heart right from the start, yeah, I didn’t win.

I’d take you back, no doubt about that … even though, I didn’t win.

I’m in my truck tearing up these back roads.

Fightin’ mad, feeling sad, rememberin’ everything we had.

Trying to figure out how it (all) went south …

swearing loud, throwin’ stuff down,

Head spinning ‘round, facing the fact I was losing out.

Guess time got away … And so did you; You rolled the dice on someone new.

And, I didn’t win.

You couldn’t see the forest for the trees, it was me that you really need. I didn’t win.

He played the part, held every card, that won your heart right from the start, yeah, I didn’t win.

I’d take you back, no doubt about that … even though, I didn’t win.

INSTRUMENTAL

I didn’t win.

You couldn’t see the forest for the trees, it was me that you really need.

I’d take you back, no doubt about that … even though, I didn’t win.

Oh, I didn’t win.

I didn’t win.

I Do

You were standing up at the alter.

And, I was sweating in the back pew.

I can’t believe this is happening

That should be me and you.

Then the preacher man looks out and asks, does anyone object?

I do.

‘Cause you know I love you baby.

I do.

And I know this is crazy.

It’s true,

That I wanna be your man.

So, don’t you wanna change your plans, dance with me and take a chance?

‘Cause baby, I do.

As you walk to me, I see your eyes.

Those tears I know are the good ones.

And in this moment we both realize,

That we really are in love.

And then you ask me if I want to take your hand?

I do.

‘Cause you know I love you baby.

I do.

And I know this is crazy.

It’s true,

That I wanna be your man.

So, don’t you wanna change your plans, dance with me and take a chance?

Don’t you wanna change your plans, dance with me and take a chance?

‘Cause baby, I do.

Baby, I do.

Baby, I do.

I Dream

I stopped off for some coffee on my way to work.

I must confess I’d never met a sweeter clerk.

That’s when it all began.

You sure opened up my eyes.

Not how I envisioned…

the meeting of my life.

And now…

When I dream, I dream of you.

When I do, my dreams come true.

The moment we met, I instantly knew.

Oh baby, do you feel the same way too?

I said I have to see you.

Let’s meet up again.

Dinner, drinks, do you like to dance?

You said “just tell me when”.

What a special smile.

Your voice…that look.

Just a half a second….

is all it really took.

‘Cause now…

When I dream, I dream of you.

When I do, my dreams come true.

The moment we met, I instantly knew.

Oh baby, do you feel the same way too?

 A year, a month, a day or a week…I know as long as I breath …

When I dream, I dream of you.

When I do, my dreams come true.

The moment we met, I instantly knew.

Oh baby, do you feel the same way too?

And I know as this dream unfolds,

I am (I have fallen) falling so in love with you!

I Met Her Down at Walmart

I Miss Your Love

Oh, this coffee doesn’t smell right…and don’t taste the same.

In the mirror all I see is pain.

And our song it plays on the radio… it’s making me insane.

I drive and lose my bearings…

I’m feeling like a mess.

So desperate to see you…

God, I’m such a wreck.

So, baby please, please take my call?

I want so bad to tell you that, you’re all.

You’re all I’ve ever wanted and all I’ve dreamed of.

All I ever think about is how … I miss your love.

The reason why you left me…I see now is true.

‘cause I needed to grow up some too.

I was blind and couldn’t see it…I didn’t have a clue…

that my only hope was you.

I have the words inside me…

now, that I’ve cleared my head.

Give me one chance to undo all those things that I said.

So, baby please, please take my call?

I want so bad to tell you that, you’re all.

You’re all I’ve ever wanted and all I’ve dreamed of.

All I ever think about is how … I miss your love.

I’ll make up for the heartache, with everything that I have left.

And I’ll work hard to win your love back until my dying breath.

Baby won’t you…please take my call?

I want so bad to tell you…you’re all.

So, baby, baby, baby, baby, please take my call.

Give me the chance to tell you, you’re all.

You’re all I’ve ever wanted and all I’ve dreamed of.

All I ever think about is how … I miss your love.

I miss you’re love. Yeah, I miss your love.  I miss your love

I Watch ‘Em Drink

I love to watch the people at my neighborhood bar.

It’s down around the corner…not very far.

Grab a stool near the back, ‘n have myself a drink.

You got Cody, just back in from out of town.

Man, he throws ‘em back so fast, you’d swear he’s gonna drown.

While putting the moves on every girl that can breathe.

And he hasn’t figured out why they always want to leave.

Yeah…I watch ‘em drink…I watch ‘em laugh.

I watch ‘em talk, I watch ‘em flirt, and I watch ‘em dance.

I watch ‘em drink…sometimes way too much.

I watch ‘em lookin’ for the love of their life for the night.

I watch ‘em drink…

Now, in walks Ashley with the hottest tan around.

She just got home from college. Boy she can slam ‘em down!

You can tell she ain’t the shy one…anymore.

When the band fires up some Hank, she’ll be taking up half the floor.

It seems that every bar has got their local cast.

And it will go on in the future, just like it’s been in the past.  Yeah, yeah.

I watch ‘em drink…I watch ‘em laugh.

I watch ‘em talk, I watch ‘em flirt, and I watch ‘em dance.

I watch ‘em drink…sometimes way too much.

I watch ‘em fightin’ for the love of their life for the night.

I watch ‘em drink…

Yeah, yeah, I watch ‘em drink.  Whoa!

Yeah, we’ve all been there. Don’t forget to call yourself a cab.

Geez, Ashley, put your clothes back on.

I Would Have Picked You

Our Fairy Tale romance, was ended by circumstance, never got the big dance.

Never got to take your name, work moved you away …

I couldn’t leave…and everything changed.

You were the love in my eyes, would have stood proud by your side, made you the best wife, we would have had a great life.

Our lives hold curves, twists and turns … sometimes it hurts, that’s how we learn.

And, I think you always knew … at least I pray you do.

If you would have picked me, I would have picked you.

If you would have picked me, I would have picked you.

So, yeah, our old friend Drew, he kind of stepped on in your shoes, he reminded me of you.

You guys were so close, next thing I knew, well, I suppose ...

You know how it goes.

You were the love in my eyes, I would have stood close by your side, made you the best wife, we could have shared a great life.

Our lives hold curves, twists and turns … sometimes it hurts, that’s how we learn.

And, I think you always knew … at least I pray you do.

If he hadn’t picked me, I would have picked you. Yeah,

If he hadn’t picked me, I would have picked you

I don’t want to say I settled… maybe it wasn't right.  And I admit it, I dream of you at night.

Oh, and I’ve heard people say  … Dreams are a wish your heart makes.

You were the love in my eyes, would have stood proud by your side, made you the best wife, we should have made a new life.

Our lives hold curves, twists and turns … it really hurts, that’s how we learn.

And, I think you always knew … at least I pray you do.

If you would have picked me, I would have picked you.

If you would have picked me, I would have picked you.

I would have picked you.

If This Ain’t Love

Can't stop thinking 'bout last week, when we ran from the bar to the car.

It was raining hard; you reached out and we locked arms.

Was that a sign, or am I blind?

So many times, you do things girl that just totally blow my mind.

If I had to go on without you, I now know I couldn't ... and I wouldn't.

These days all I think about is you; is us; your touchin’.

Can't wait to hear your voice again; set a date; take you out and then ...

Yeah, I can't help but think about you every minute. If this ain't love ... then … what is it?

I know deep down in my soul we’ve got something undeniable.

The first time that we kissed was mmm, so excitable.

Our midnight walks, our deep down talks.

Just holding each other and sharing our most private thoughts.

If I had to go on without you, I now know I couldn't ... and I wouldn't.

These days all I think about is us; your touch; and wishin’.

Can't wait to hear your voice again; pick you up; take you out and then ...

Yeah, I'm thinking about you every minute. If this ain't love ...  then … what is it?

My heart is hearing every word you're not saying.

Don’t you worry, I won’t keep you waiting.

'Cause if I had to go on without you, I now know I couldn't ... and I wouldn't.

These days all I think about is us; your touch; our lovin’.

Can't wait to hear your voice again; take you out; kiss your mouth and then ...

Yeah, I can't help but think about you every minute. If this ain't love ...  then … what is it?

You're on mind every single minute, baby. If this ain't love … then … what is it?

What is it?

It’s Not a Sin

I hear every word you’re saying and you may be right.

But, that’s not at all how I am feeling tonight.

Are you really ready, Babe, to set me free?

Are you honestly convinced that I’m not what you need?

You caught yourself in time, but I didn’t.

I’m all in it. I admit it.

I need you in my life and it’s not a sin … now, is it?

Maybe you’re feelings scared you this time, but mine didn’t.

They’re all in it.

So sublime, it’s not a sin … it’s not a sin … now, is it?

Let’s suppose that you are right and I am wrong.

Will you’re heart be hurtin’ when I’m good and gone?

Will you just go on like I was never there?

Or, will my memory be too hard for you to bear?

Maybe you caught yourself in time, but I didn’t.

I’m all in it. I’m smitten.

I need you in my life and it’s not a sin … now, is it?

Maybe you’re feelings just scared you this time, but mine didn’t.

I’m committed.

That’s not a crime, it’s not a sin … it’s not a sin … now, is it?

Don’t make my heartfelt love be a curse.

I mighta gotten there first,

but then … that’s not a sin … or, is it?

Maybe you caught yourself in time, but I didn’t.

I’m all in it. And I admit it.

I need you in my life and it’s not a sin … now, is it?

Maybe you’re feelings just scared you this time, but mine didn’t.

They’re not hidden.

Bottom line, it’s not a sin … it’s not a sin … now, is it?

Yeah, now is it? It’s not a sin girl

King Me, Queen You

I pull my truck…

up in your drive.

Open your door.

You throw your bags inside.

We head down south.

Not knowin’ quite where.

But, we’ll figure it out, when we get there.

Found us a place.

You made it home.

We both got jobs.

Just like we’d hoped.

We made ends meet.

Made you my wife.

Everything’s sweet, and it’s such a good life. (and I love my/our life)

We left home for a new town to lay out our plans.

Now’s the time to grow together as a woman and a man.

So this is what we need to do, and according to us two.

We’re the rulers of our lives, King me, Queen you.

Sometimes you have …

to take a chance.

A little change …

from your circumstance.

A leap of faith.

Trust in your love.

And you’ll find one day how great it can become.

We left home for a new town to lay out our plans.

Time has helped us grow together as a woman and a man.

We did what we had to do, and according to us two.

We’re the rulers of our lives, King me, Queen you.

We’ve got a little prince … and a princess on the way.

They’ll add a bunch more fun to our happy kingdom every day.

We left home for a new town to lay out our plans.

Time has helped us grow (I love how we both came) together as a woman and a man.

We did what we had to do, and according to us two.

We’re the rulers of our lives, King me, Queen you.

Later Never Happens

Lead Me to Temptation

A guilty conscience and a wedding ring;

Neither one of us will ever say a thing, to anybody, about what’s going on.

A married woman and a willing man;

A ring of fire in a golden band; A yearning, that’s way too strong.

I try my best to do what’s right. But, I just got to see you tonight.

Lead me to temptation. Who cares if we’re gonna get burned.

I’ll gladly face damnation, to reach the point of no return.

Raging out of control, body and soul, begging for salvation.

Lead me to temptation.

An alibi and a place to meet,

Somewhere down a dead-end street; this ain’t going nowhere.

And everytime we say good-bye,

We wind up back here one more time, saying we ain’t gonna go there.

Deep down I know it’s a sin, but I know I’m gonna do it again.

So, lead me to temptation. Who cares if I’m  gonna get burned.

I’ll gladly face damnation, to reach the point of no return.

Raging out of control, body and soul, begging for salvation.

Lead me to temptation.

Lead me to temptation.

Who cares if  I’m gonna get burned.

I’ll gladly face damnation, to reach the point of no return.

Raging out of control, body and soul, begging for salvation.

Raging out of control, body and soul, begging for salvation.

Lead me to temptation.

Living Contradiction

She's her Daddy's Princess, her Mama's whole world.

Tom Petty all American girl. Can raise a little hell on the weekend.

Tall and wise with baby blue eyes. A big ole heart she can't disguise.

Sends all the boys off the deep-end.

She don't need no man to save her, so I better be on my best behavior.

She speaks with a southern twang, has perfect diction.

Smilin' wide while dancing in the rain.

She's a living contradiction, Ain't no work of fiction.

She's someone I always hoped God would send, and she's my best friend.

Her hair's fiery red and oh, so bright. Can hang with the boys on poker night.

Can swear like the devil yet prays to the Lord above.

Loves her Willie and digs on Waylon, can still get down with old Van Halen.

Asking why can't this be love?

She don't need no man to save her, so I better be on my best behavior.

She speaks with a southern twang, has perfect diction.

Smilin' wide while dancing in the rain.

She's a living contradiction, Ain't no work of fiction.

She's someone I always hoped God would send, and she's my best friend.

She don't need no man to save her, so I better be on my best behavior.

She speaks with a southern twang, has perfect diction.

Smilin' wide while she's dancing in the rain.

She's a living contradiction, Ain't no work of fiction.

She's someone I always hoped God would send, and she's my best friend.

Look What We Started

Remember when I asked you out? Then asked you for a kiss?

Hoped both times that you’d say yes, and yes, you sure did.

Look what we started.

You shared your deepest secrets, and I fell hard for you.

Then, I opened up my heart; that’s when we knew we knew.

Look what we started.

Look what we started.  You’re my best friend.

I know I could never fall this deep in love again.

Look at where we came from, to where we are today.

There won’t be any turning back; there’s nothing in our way.

Who’d have ever thought we’d get this far, back when WE began?

Look what we started.

You tell me I’m your whole world.  Well, Babe, you’re all of mine.

Attraction mixed with passion, a burning fire inside.

It’s emotion … it’s our devotion … it’s more than a notion, when I say …

Look what we started.  You’re my best friend.

I know I could never fall this deep in love again.

Look at where we came from, to where we are today.

There won’t be any turning back; there’s nothing in our way.

Who’d have ever thought we’d get this far, back when WE began?

Look what we started.  Oh … look what we started.

Oh … oh, oh, oh,

Look what we started

Lookin’ at Me

I’ve been running around all morning … Long list of things to do.

Then my stomach started growling … I knew I couldn’t make it through.

I saw you walk in the door … where I just stopped to eat.

Heard you order yours to go … And wow … you sure looked sweet.

And then…I saw you lookin’ at me.

You caught my eye but you turned away.

Yeah, I saw you lookin’ at me.

I think you’re shy, but that’s o.k.

I jumped out of my seat and asked you to stay when you started to walk away

‘cause I liked you lookin’ at me; yeah, lookin at me!

You almost seemed embarrassed …  the way your cheeks turned red.

I walked you to my table …  It was cute the way you said …

I never usually do that.   Yeah, you knew I saw you look.

We sat all day talking ...  a little nerve was all it took.

When…I saw you lookin’ at me.

You caught my eye then you turned away.

Yeah, I saw you lookin’ at me.

I know you’re shy, now you made my day.

Glad I found the words to get you to stay before you walked away.

‘cause I liked you lookin’ at me; yeah, lookin’ at me!

I didn’t think my afternoon could get any better than this.

Until you gave me your number… and a tender little kiss.

I saw you lookin’ at me/lookin at you. I saw you lookin’ at me/lookin’ at you.

Oh, I saw you lookin’ at me

You caught my eye then you turned away.

Yeah, I saw you lookin’ at me.

I know you’re shy, now you made my day.

Glad I found the words to get you to stay before you walked away.

‘cause I liked you lookin’ at me; Don’t stop lookin’ at me!

Don’t stop lookin’ at me.

Lost in You

I'd been searching for a place I'd yet to go.

Always longing for a love I'd never known.

It hurt to be alone, hard to control that void in my soul.

Then I found you. Oh, or did you find me?

Either way, it's clear to see.

I get so caught up when it's just us together, talking 'bout life, the weather, whatever ...

Gaze into your eyes … and seeing forever.

Baby, it’s oh, so true.

I find myself ...when I get lost in you.

Who I was is just a piece of who I am today.

You built me up and made better in every way.

Was it my lucky day, or should I say, just a twist of fate?

When I found you.

Yeah, if there's one thing that is true ...

I find myself ... when I get lost in you.

I find myself ...

… when I get lost in … you.

Magic

(male) You hopped on in my old black ford with that picnic lunch you made.

I kissed you for the first time on the bank down at Nelson’s Bay.

…it was magic.

(female) For months we talked and danced and walked as both our feelings grew.

And when you said you loved me … I knew I loved you too.

…it was magic.

(both) It happened in a second, right there and then.

I want to feel that special moment…again and again.

‘Cause it was, yes it was, nothing but magic.

(male) On New Years Eve, Two Thousand Three, I dropped a ring in your champagne.

And then I got down on one knee; I can still see your face.

…it was magic.

(female) The crowd was counting down the final seconds of the year.

But, I just leaned in to you, whispered “yes” into your ear.

…it was magic.

(both) It happened in a second, right there and then.

I want to feel that special moment…again and again.

‘Cause it was, yes it was, nothing but magic.

(male) That’s what we call those things in life that just can’t be explained.

(female) And every day since that day, it’s been more of the same.

(both) It happened in a second, right there and then.

I want to feel that special moment…again and again.

‘Cause it was, yes it was,

“Cause it was, …nothing but magic.

My Eyes

Nashville’s Back Door

Scraped winter off his windshield.

Packed his guitar in the back.

Nothing he would leave behind…

but a couple snowy tracks.

A thermos full of coffee.

Box of donuts on the seat.

A head that’s full of songs and hopes

of people he might meet … Yeah, he’s off to chase his dream.

The boy is headed south…down highway twenty four.

His beat-up truck is driving in…like so many before.

Well, he knows that they don’t know him. Hoping that might change, for sure.

Heading to your town…through Nashville’s back door.

You’d see him on the corner.

They’d throw spare change in his case.

He couldn’t seem to catch a break..

He spent six years in that place.

Then one magic Friday night…

Some big label heard him play.

It finally came together.

He’d been living for that day …  Now, his life’s about to change.

The boy is headed north…up highway twenty four.

His bus is heading out on tour…with his whole band on board.

Pretty soon you’re gonna see him, at a sold-out concert hall.

Straight into your heart…through Nashville’s back door.

He rolled into this town alone; no contacts and no fear.

A truck load of ambition and songs we want to hear.

Pretty soon you’re gonna see him. At a sold-out concert hall.

Coming to your town…through Nashville’s back door.

Found his way into your heart, through Nashville’s backdoor.

No Tomorrow

I sure like this hammock. Love that you’re in it with me.

Soaking up every minute, down here in the Keys.

Making sweet memories.

And you got me thinking about the future…

But, what about tomorrow; what happens then?

If I’m lucky you’ll be next to me again.

Don’t worry about tomorrow, now, ok?

Let’s just keep this feeling going, Babe.

We’re not promised tomorrow … but, I can love you like there’s no tomorrow today.

I sure love this look I’m seeing in your eyes.

Drawing me in closer; then I hear you sigh.

We’re lost in Paradise.

When I lean to kiss your lips, you lean in too.

All I can say for sure today,

Is no one’s ever made me feel this way.

But, what about tomorrow; what happens then?

If I’m lucky you’ll be next to me again.

Don’t worry about tomorrow, now, ok?

Let’s just keep this feeling going, Babe.

We’re not promised tomorrow … but, I can love you like there’s no tomorrow … today.

Tomorrow today.

I’ll sure love you like there’s no tomorrow… today.

Palm Trees in Heaven

If there’s any place I’d want to be, pictured in my mind

It’s in your heart with you in mine.

But-if-our, time-on, earth-gets, cut-short. And somehow that can’t be

I have a place of where I’d like to meet.

And I sure hope there’s palm trees up in Heaven.

When I get there can I have a chair right by the deep blue sea.

Sip on an icee tropical drink, just dreaming of you and me

In Hawaii, for eternity.

I’ve been blessed for many years, to have you in my life.

And, no one wants to face the day they die.

But when the lord calls me up, to the ‘Ania in the sky

I’ll wait there ‘til the day that you arrive.

And I sure hope there’s palm trees up in Heaven.

When I get there can I have a chair right by the deep blue sea.

Sip on an icee tropical drink, (just) dreaming of you and me

In Hawaii, for eternity.

And I sure hope there’s palm trees up in Heaven.

When I get there can I have a chair right by the deep blue sea.

Sip on an icee tropical drink, (just) dreaming of you and me

In Hawaii, for eternity.

In Hawaii, for eternity.

In Hawaii, for eternity.

Queen of Pretend

She walks and talks like … Someone who’s got it all.

Deep down she’s not so confident … Afraid she’ll take a fall.

Red lips and fingertips … Not one hair out of place.

Designer rings and pretty things …A plastic smile on her face.

Her painted eyes try to disquise,

But they can’t hide the pain.

Inside she’s dying with all her lying.

Will it ever end?

She’s the Queen of Pretend. She’s the Queen of Pretend.

Tear stained window panes … She watches as he goes.

She’ll tell herself she doesn’t care … When he won’t call tomorrow.

Her painted eyes try to disquise,

But they can’t hide the pain.

Inside she’s dying with all her lying.

Will it ever end?

She’s the Queen of Pretend. She’s the Queen of Pretend. She’s the Queen of Pretend.

She wants to be loved … And she wants to believe…

That she is good enough like the pretty girl you see.

She’s already beautiful … She’s stronger than she knows.

There she goes again.  Will it ever end?

She’s the Queen of Pretend. She’s the Queen of Pretend. She’s the Queen of Pretend.

She walks and talks like … Someone who’s got it all.

Deep down she’s not so confident … Afraid she’ll take a fall.

Red, White, & Bold

I see her waving in my yard.

Gotta sticker of her on the window of my car.

Been a rough ride lately, she’s had her ups and downs.

She’s gone through hell, but she’ll always be around..

She’s tough as nails when she’s flyin’ in the wind.

She never gives up; she never gives in.

She may be tattered and she might be old.

But, we’ll fight for her, die for her, walk through fire for her.

Because she’s, Red, White and Bold. Oh, oh. Oh-oh, oh, oh. (one time only)

You can think what you want and say what you must.

But, from Michigan to Texas…buddy don’t mess with us.

East Coast, West Coast, North and South … say

If you bend her, she’ll snap back and smack you in the mouth … hey

‘Cause she’s tough as nails when she’s flyin’ in the wind.

She never gives up; she never gives in.

She may be tattered and she might be old.

But, we’ll fight for her, die for her, walk through fire for her.

Because she’s, Red, White and Bold. Oh, oh. Oh-oh, oh, oh. (repeats)

Before a Nascar Race and every Football Game,

We show off our pride again and again.

We all stand up and take off our hats,

and sing out loud as we face our flag.

Red, White and Bold. Oh, oh, Oh-oh, oh, oh.…

Second First Kiss

Been so long since he’d seen her; ten long years apart.

They were so in love back then; separation broke his heart.

When she went off to college, they tried to keep it strong.

But, the miles apart proved to prove them wrong.

Now, today he’s on a cloud, found out she’s back in town.

He asked her out, they went somewhere, white table cloth, pulled out her chair.

And that night after dinner, as they pressed their lips together.

They remembered what they’d missed … with their second first kiss.

Their hearts both found a whole new beat; they’re in a whole new place.

He remembers her when they were kids; as his fingers brush her face.

They both had never met another that they felt could compare.

Fate and longing wrote a story that’s so rare.

Today he’s on a cloud, found out she’s back in town.

He asked her out, they went somewhere, white table cloth, pulled out her chair.

And that night after dinner, as they pressed their lips together.

They remembered what they’d missed … with their second first kiss.

The past seemed like a blur, but that kiss was fresh and pure.

Today he’s on a cloud, found out she’s back in town.

He asked her out, they went somewhere, white table cloth, pulled out her chair.

And that night after dinner, as they pressed their lips together.

They found what they had missed … with their second first kiss.

Yeah, their second first kiss. With their second first kiss.

Second Rate White Trash

There ain't nothing sweet about Candi

Or Kevin for that matter too

They’re the plain white trash at the end of my street

Garbage man could ya take ‘em with you

If you only knew

What kinda low life, scum bags they are you would surely haul them away

And I'm sure you'd say

They’re the stinkiest worthless load of garbage you picked up today

Now, I'm down with first class rowdy rednecks having a backyard bash

But, I can't stand second rate white trash

They’re always smiling from their side window

As their dogs drop a load in my grass

Before your truck comes by they put their cans in my drive

And it makes me wanna kick their ass

If you only knew

What kinda low life, scum bags they are you would surely haul them away

And, I'm sure you'd say

They’re the stinkiest worthless load of garbage that you picked up today

I'm down with first class rowdy rednecks having a backyard bash

But, I can't stand second rate white trash

I've tried many times to reason with that so called man of the house

But the bitch comes out, and he backs down, when she starts running her mouth

Yeah, if you only knew

What kinda low life, scum bags they are you would surely haul them away

And, I'm sure you'd say

They’re the stinkiest worthless load of garbage that you picked up today

I'm down with first class rowdy rednecks having a backyard bash

But, I can't stand second rate …

Can’t tolerate that second rate

Yeah, I just hate that second rate white trash

Show Me Beautiful

I always thought I saw it all, I've gazed in awe at Niagara Falls.

Been to China, where I walked the Great Wall.

I shook my head, said what a sight, in the distant sky, saw the Northern Lights.

I've seen the Milky Way on a moonless night.

I thought I've seen beautiful, but I've never seen beautiful like you.

It's in your heart, it's in your soul, it's in every part of you I've come to know.

You're remarkable, sensational ... desirable and playful.

Exceptionally irresistible ... huggable, kissable ... lovable and unbelievably sensual.

I hope I know where this is gonna go, 'cause baby, you sure show me beautiful.

So many spectacles of life. I've been mesmerized, by an eagle in flight.

I watched him fly and lost all sense of time.

Sugarloaf in Rio, Oh man, what a thrill, even seemed a bit surreal.

It made me want to cross myself and get down and kneel.

I thought I'd seen beautiful, until I saw the beautiful in you.

You ... have changed ... my ...view. Oh, yeah …

I thought I knew beautiful, until I loved the beautiful in you.

Sure hope I do, sure hope I know, just how this is all gonna go ... 'cause baby,

You, you, you ... you sure show me beautiful.

You show me beautiful.

Sincerely, Me

Another day on the frontline,

In a land I don’t know.

I head back to my station.

And the sand starts to blow.

Today some mail came for me, so I pulled out this letter and started to read…

Hello my name is Mary Jo Sue. And I’m proud of the things that you do

Protecting my Momma and my friends.

I hope you like the different colored crayons.

My teacher says you’re out there alone, and to draw you a picture to remind you of home.

I hope you like what you see.

Sincerely, Your new friend, Me.

Right now there’s no time to think,

As the bullets fly by.

Gotta hold back the tears once again,

And fight to survive.

God, I’ve been out here too long, but her little words help me hang on.

She says my name is Mary Jo Sue. And I’m proud of the things that you do

Protecting my Momma and my friends.

I hope you like the different colored crayons.

My teacher says you’re out there alone, and to draw you a picture to remind you of home.

I hope you like what you see.

Sincerely, Your new friend, Me.

If it ain’t in his plans and I don’t make it back,

I hope this note gets to you.

Thank you Mary Jo Sue. To think of me was awful nice of you.

I’m home now with family and friends. I carried that note to the end.

I was living out there all alone, and that picture you drew helped bring me back home.

I hope you like what you see. Here’s a picture of my family.

Sincerely, Your new friend, Me.

Sleep Talking

I woke up about 2 AM; heard you say “That’s what I like”.

Then you started mumbling something like, “let’s turn out the lights”.

I picked up my head, turned your way and said, Hey, baby can you say that again?

Your eyes were closed, you were out cold, I was laying there listening,

I heard you sleep talkin’, sweet talkin’, but just who were you talking to?

Should I wonder or maybe worry of who was in that dream with you?

Sleep talkin’, sweet talkin’, you woke me up last night.

I heard you sleep talkin’, yeah, but something don’t seem right.

Now my eyes are open wide, waiting for what’s next.

The only thing I hear from you is your heart beatin’ in your chest.

I’m thinking, oh great, now I’m wide awake. It’s gonna be a long day.

Then you call my name, you smile and say, “I love it when you do it that way”.

I heard you sleep talkin’, sweet talkin’, but just who were you talking to?

Should I wonder or maybe worry of who was in that dream with you?

Sleep talkin’, sweet talkin’, you woke me up last night.

I heard you sleep talkin’, yeah, with loving me on your mind.

I heard you sleep talkin’, sweet talkin’, you woke me up last night.

I heard you sleep talkin’, yeah, with loving me on your mind.

Sleep talkin’, sweet talkin’, you woke me up last night.

I heard you sleep talkin’, yeah, with loving me on your mind.

Sleep talkin’, sweet talkin’, you woke me up last night.

I heard you sleep talkin’, yeah, with loving me on your mind.

That’s right.

Steps

Well, I hit this bar to kill some time.

When I noticed you under that Neon Sign.

You turned my way and gave me a look.

Hit me square in the heart like a hard right hook.

You were looking good in them cowboy boots.

Oh, let me show you a move or two.

Step 1 is when I pull you close, then the band kicks in and we do-si-do.

Step 2 my hand slides to your hip, spin you around and watch you dip.

Step 3 you put your hands on me, we move to the rhythm and turn up the heat.

Step 4 on the floor we start to sweat, ‘cause the night we know it ain’t over yet.

Now we’re sippin’ shine from a mason jar.

My thoughts have us going just a little too far.

I don’t want this night to end.

So, I take a shot and move on in.

You said “Cowboy what you tryin’ to do?”

I’m trying to dance you out of them boots.

Step 1 is when I pull you close, then the band kicks in and we do-si-do.

Step 2 my hand slides to your hip, spin you around and watch you dip.

Step 3 you put your hands on me, we move to the rhythm and turn up the heat..

Step 4 on the floor we start to sweat, ‘cause the night we know it ain’t over yet.

Step 1 is when I pull you close, then the band kicks in and we do-si-do.

Step 2 my hand slides to your hip, spin you around and watch you dip.

Yeah, tonight we know it ain’t over yet.

Sumpin’, Sumpin’

Three business trips to Vegas, just this month alone.

Hmm…I guess another deal…just needed to get done.

His stories aren’t quite adding up.  Yeah, they’re sounding kind of flat.

I’m getting quite suspicious.  I think I smell a rat.

“Cause I think he’s got a little sumpin’, going on the side.

I’m thinking that there’s something, he’s trying hard to hide.

Did he think I’d never notice, did he think I wouldn’t find,

that he’s got a little sumpin’, sumpin’, going on the side?

He walked in Friday afternoon…exhausted by the trip.

Said he needs to take a shower.  Gave me a little kiss.

I went to move his briefcase.  I heard it buzz and buzz.

It might be real important, so…  I looked at who it was.

Those cheatin’ words spilled out (of) his phone right there in black and white.

I ran (stomped) up the stairs screaming…ready for a fight.

I smashed the shower door apart, with his precious Yankees bat.

And all that he could think to say was…why’d ya just do that?

“Cause I know you got a little sumpin’, going on the side.

And I know there’s something, you’re trying hard to hide.

Did you think I’d never notice, did you think I wouldn’t find,

that you got a little sumpin’, sumpin’, going on the side?

Call it intuition; call it a woman scourned.

Well, you can call yourself cold busted; just don’t call this home no more.

“Cause I know you got a little sumpin’, going on the side.

And I know that there’s something, you’re trying hard to hide.

Did you think I’d never notice, did you think I wouldn’t find,

that you got a little sumpin’, sumpin’, going on the side?

…going on the side.

Ten Tiny Toes

He's on the job all day. Working with his hands.

He gets a phone call, And drives like mad.

Pulls up to the hospital; Runs inside.

His new born girl; Wow, what a sight

,,, at that moment, the whole world became right.

As he counts, ten tiny fingers; ten tiny toes.

He picks his baby up and holds her close.

Tiny beating heart with her Mama’s little nose ...

He touches her cheek rubs her two pink feet, with those, let me count 'em ... 1,2,3 ... 10 tiny toes.

He gives his wife a kiss; Tears in his eyes.

Tells her "our love made this".  And she starts to cry

... a little miracle; the miracle of life.

As he counts, ten tiny fingers; ten tiny toes.

He picks his baby up and holds her close.

Tiny beating heart with her Mama’s little nose ...

He touches her cheek, rubs her two pink feet, with those, let me count 'em ... 1,2,3 ... 10 tiny toes.

Now, night life will mean watching her breath.

And, get me another bottle, has a whole new meaning to me.

10 tiny toes, they'll be watching her grow. 10 tiny toes.

Text Me

Did you ever notice the callus on my thumb?

I peck at all those letters on my phone ‘til it gets numb.

To actually have a talking conversation is so rare.

So, if you have some random thought that you need to share…

Just text me. I don’t need to hear your voice.

Yeah, just text me... c’mon, I hope you’re not annoyed.

Everybody does it…it’s the way we all prefer.

We can skip all the emotion…hide behind the words.  Just text me.

We don’t need to get together…don’t need to take a walk.

Don’t need to buy more minutes…We don’t need to really talk.

It won’t be very long before…we no longer date.

This will be the only way that we communicate!

Baby, text me. I don’t need to hear your voice.

Yeah, text me... c’mon, I hope you’re not annoyed.

Everybody does it…it’s the way we all prefer.

We don’t use punctuation…mis-type half the words.  Just text me.

I am planning to get married…Want to start a whole new life.

I’m gonna text my girl and ask…if she’ll be my wife.

Can’t you picture us at dinner…with a fork and phone in hand?

I’ll ask to “pass the butter” but she won’t understand.

So she’ll say…

Text me! I don’t need to hear your voice.

Yeah, text me... c’mon, I hope you’re not annoyed.

Everybody does it…it’s the way we all prefer.

We don’t use punctuation…we abbreviate the words.  Just text me. Yeah, just text me.

Now some people send out pictures of themselves without no clothes.

I even saw this girl driving and texting with her nose. (OMG!)

That Car

I just got out of high school;  that car was fast and sleek.

Took real good care of it;  I waxed it every week.

It helped me find my baby;  she loved to go for rides.

Cruising down the highway;  hugging her close by my side.

We drove off in her white dress;  cans clanging from behind.

A honeymoon on cruise control;  sweet lovin’ on my mind.

Soon, kids piled in the back seat;  food and wrappers on the floor.

And now I ain’t got time to wax her anymore.

But, I love that car a lot.

When I push the pedal, I’m peelin’ rubber.

I love that car alot.

Ain’t no way I’d trade her for no other…

There’s lots of makes and models, but hey, it’s the only car I’ve got.

And I love that car a lot.

Well, the kids are grown and married;   that car got kind of dusty.

Muffler’s hanging half way off;  it’s getting kind of rusty.

It needs a couple tires;  the battery is weak.

Can’t see out of the windows;  the dog’s done got ‘em streaked.

But, it’s suited me just fine;  for the abuse it’s had to take.

We all piled in for road trips:  each year on Summer break.

It’s carried bats and balls for games;  and bushes for the lawn.

She still runs all day;  from early in the dawn.

But, I love that car a lot.

Now that pedal’s getting kind of stubborn.

I love that car alot.

Ain’t no way I’d trade her for no other…

There’s lots of makes and models, but hey, it’s the best car that I’ve got.

And I love that car a lot.

Some folks may need a new look, a bright shiny SUV.

But my car is still reliable…and that’s good enough for me.

But, I love that car a lot.

Now that pedal’s getting kind of stubborn.

I love that car alot.

Ain’t no way I’d trade her for no other…

There’s lots of makes and models, but hey, it’s the best car that I’ve got.

And I love that car a lot.

The Nashville Sound

Some people wanna talk

About the new music in Dixie,

How it’s good, how it’s bad and how it’s changed.

But when you’re sippin’ on a beer

Or shootin’ down brown whiskey,

So much of it still seems to be the same…

You’ll hear some rock and roll,

Some Dylan and some Springsteen,

Maybe a little Memphis,

Sun Records and the King.

From Austin out to Bakersfield,

They all come to this town,

Mix that with outlaw country

And you have the Nashville sound.

Real country fans come out

To hear their favorite songs,

They wear their hats and their boots with pride.

And at the top of their lungs

They try to sing along,

To songs like Walk the Line and Chicken Fried…

You’ll hear some rock and roll,

Some Dylan and some Springsteen,

Maybe a little Memphis,

Sun Records and the King.

From Austin out to Bakersfield,

They all come to this town,

Mix that with outlaw country

And you have the Nashville sound.

Yeah ya’ll

Take it from me,,

It’s a different world

But it’s still our country…

You’ll hear some rock and roll,

Some Dylan and some Springsteen,

Maybe a little Memphis,

Sun Records and the King.

From Austin out to Bakersfield,

They all come to this town,

Mix that with outlaw country

And you have the Nashville sound.

The Weekend Is Here

Gettin’ my butt up this morning…

didn’t seem quite so rough.

And no matter what the boss man needs…

today won’t be so tough.

In six hours and fifteen minutes…

I’ll fill the coolers with beer.

‘cause it’s Friday baby…

and the weekend is here.

We’ll be laughin’, dancin’, knees a slappin’, howlin’ at the moon.

We’re gonna party hardy all night long, and then sleep it off ‘til noon.

Two nights of toe tappin’, ear-drum blastin, backyard party cheer.

When our work is done, it’s where we all belong, now that the weekend is here.

Now, Joey’s got his pick-up filled…

with fresh split wood.

And Freddy’s got the girls lined up.

Damn, they’re lookin’ good.

Us boys will drive the neighbor’s crazy…

when we hit second gear.

That fire will blaze ‘til we’re done…

Now that the weekend is here.

We’ll be laughin’, dancin’, knees a slappin’, Oh, howlin’ at the moon.

We’re gonna party hardy all night long, and then sleep it off ‘til noon.

Two nights of toe tappin’, ear-drum blastin, backyard party cheer.

When our work is done, it’s where we all belong, now that the weekend is here.

I know that Monday morning is always just around the bend.

But I don’t care; cuz right here, right now…there ain’t nothing like the weekend.

Well, we’ll be laughin’, dancin’, knees a slappin’, Oh,  howlin’ at the moon.

Gonna party hardy all night long, and then sleep it off ‘til noon.

Yeah, two nights of toe tappin’, ear-drum blastin, backyard party cheer.

When our work is done, it’s where we all belong, now that the weekend is here.

Well, when our work is done, it’s where we all belong, now that the weekend is here.

Time Stood Still

Brianna, just about gave up on love

Every single guy she's dated has made it too dang tough

So, she built a wall, slammed the door, and closed off her hurting heart

The only way that she could save herself from falling apart

Then, time stood still, needs time to heal

Asks is this what fate has in store for me as she bends down to kneel

And time stood still

Her best friend said it's been long enough

I'm gonna take you out to scream and shout, and do lots of crazy stuff

Took a little time, she met a guy, and that wall came crashing down

He’s helping her to realize what love is all about

And time stood still, she begins to feel

Asks is this what fate has in store for me, is he really real?

And time stood still

She knows first hand just what it's like to swear off love today

Then, a Michael Bentley comes along and takes her breath away...

Time stood still, God's plan revealed

She loves what fate has given her

And likes the way this feels

Hey, did you hear the news?

She said “I do”

She’s all in white, he's dressed in blues

Flawless in his polished shoes, they shared a kiss to seal the deal

And time stood still, time stood still, and time stood still

Tipsy

I walk through my door, drop my coat on the floor.

A couple minutes after three and my phone begins to ring.

I see your picture by your name. I smile, I answer girl .

Hey baby, you make a little time for me?

Are you calling 'cause you really miss me? Or are you just feeling a little tipsy?

Tipsy ... a flight of wine, loosens up those feelings that you have inside for me.

Tipsy ... Friday night, tell me girl what's on your mind, are you feelin’ fine?

Are you wishing you could be here with me?

Or, are you just a little tipsy?

You whisper so sweet, how bad you want to see me.

I rumble out the door; I say I’ll be at your place by four.

I fumble ‘round for my keys, feeling weak in my knees ...

Oh, Baby, can you tell me what I want to hear some more?

PRE-CHORUS

Oh, girl, are you wantin’ to kiss  me? Or are you just feeling a little tipsy?

Tipsy ... a flight of wine, loosens up those feelings that you have inside for me.

Tipsy ... Friday night, tell me girl what's on your mind, are you feelin’ fine?

Are you wishing you could be here with me?

Or, are you just a little tipsy?

Sometimes a little haze in your brain,

Helps make perfect sense of what you’re really needing to say.

Tipsy ... a flight of wine, loosens up those feelings that you have inside for me.

Tipsy ... Friday night, tell me girl what's on your mind, are you feelin’ fine?

Tipsy ... a flight of wine, loosens up those feelings thatyou have inside for me.

Tipsy ... Friday night, tell me girl what's on your mind, are you feelin’ fine?

Are you wishing you could be here with me? Or, are you just a little tipsy?

A little bit tipsy? Feeling oh, so fine. Drinking that cherry wine.

Trucks and Beer

Maybe you can find a way to write me a love song.

Let me know how pretty I am, or tell me who’s done you wrong.

Stories about your Grandpa, or how you learned to play guitar.

You can sing about anything. Hell, even about your car.

But, I don’t want to hear another song about trucks and beer.

There’s so much else out there, I think it’s time that we changed gears.

Won’t you play me a country song that’s music to my ears?

‘Cause I’m tired of all these songs about trucks and beer.

Can you talk about growing up, how your folks didn’t have a lot?

What about your dreams, or about your faith in God?

Or, how about your best friend, still out fightin’ in that war?

Can you sing about something that’s never been said before?

‘Cause, I don’t want to hear another song about trucks and beer.

There’s so much else out there, I think it’s time that we changed gears.

Won’t you play me a country song that’s music to my ears?

‘Cause I’m tired of all these songs about trucks and beer.

Now, I love a tailgate party and riding along shotgun....

Under the moonlight, drinking moonshine,

but, that song has been done and done and done and done.

So, I don’t want to hear another song about trucks and beer.

There’s so much else out there, I think it’s time that we changed gears.

Won’t you play me a country song that’s music to my ears?

‘Cause I’m tired of all these songs about trucks and beer.

I said play me a country song that’s music to my ears.

‘Cause I’m tired of all these songs about trucks and beer.

I’m so tired of all these songs about trucks and beer.

Unfinished Memories

Remember when I took you to the County Fair?

Somehow we got that cotton candy stuck up in your hair.

How ‘bout when I kissed you in the back row …

Of that summer night, ropin’, ridin’ Rodeo?  Seems so long ago.

I’ve got unfinished memories.

Of the way we used to be,

Of that kiss you gave to me …

Like we were lovers in a movie scene.

I can’t imagine how we ever lost touch …

‘Cause God knows, I loved you so much.

But, the thoughts of you and me, they run deep … in all of my unfinished memories.

So many times I lie in bed awake at night.

It’s so damn hard for me to get you off my mind.

Wondering if I called you up, what would you say.

So, tell me girl do you ever feel the same?   Oh, weren’t those the days?

Those unfinished memories.

Of the way we used to be,

Of that kiss you gave to me …

Like we were lovers in a movie scene.

Still can’t imagine how we ever lost touch …

‘Cause God knows, I loved you so much.

But, the thoughts of you and me, they run deep … in all of my unfinished memories.

(I know) you said you don’t know how we ever broke up.

So, does that mean there might still be hope … for us?

‘Cause I’ve got memories.

Of the way you looked at me,

Like I was everything … …

While holding you so tenderly.

Can’t imagine how we ever lost touch …

‘Cause God knows, I loved you so much.

And the thoughts of you and me, they run deep … in all of my unfinished memories.

The thoughts of you and me, they run so deep … in all of my unfinished memeties.
